Gernaine thinks lollerskates are cute.

I realised I'm getting lazier and lazier somewhat as the days go by.

Not that it is a bad thing or anything, just that I've always been used to getting homework finished on time and not having to rush at the last minute.

I didn't finish my Chemistry supplementary exercise questions yesterday because I decided to just finish it today. (I have a 50 minute free period till guitar practice after my final lesson anyway)

Well, yeah so it worked out. Still, I feel I ought stop procrastinating so much. :/

I shall finish homework tomorrow before the OG outing at 5pm and I shall blog before I go to sleep today. :D

Anyway, today wasn't so bad. I've signed up for the Temasek Idol with Farid on vocals, Jit Rui whacking out the beats and Leon on guitar.

While we originally intended to include Elliot and Benjamin so we could do blues-rock stuff, Jit Rui thinks 8 bar blues stuff is a little boring. :/

I agree that's true somewhat, but still good music is good music. :)

Well, to be honest I'm not really looking forward to it because I'm somewhat skeptical about the organisation of the event.

To begin, I was somehow led to believe that TI was purely a singing competition whether you're joining as a group or solo.

The SC people called me up to inform me that 'there isn't any promises' as to whether they can get the equipment. Although in my opinion they are most likely able to get it, who knows?

Not that I have anything against playing in school-based performances, but it tends to suck sometimes because of bad sound and bad organisation. :/

I still recall Talent Search when they miced Jit Rui's kick drum but the mic channel wasn't even turned on. :/

Pfft. Oh well.

Anyway in case you're wondering, I named the band Mytailisonfire. It was completely random, but in case you're wondering where I got the name, think Charizards and Alexisonfire.

We're intending to play The Donnas' "Take It Off" and Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss". We need two songs for the auditions anyway, so we're just settling with these two first.

Hm darn, now I hope Calvin and Emma decide on the songlist for the TalentQuest X finals soon.

So guitar practice today was pretty okay. The bunch of us who could play and sightread went outside of the InnoSpace room to practice playing "A Whole New World".

I had to play rhythm because I learned the rhythm parts accidentally. :/

Haha, joining guitar ensemble is pretty good because I feel like I can finally sightread for once. Not to mention it really exposes you to stuff you normally won't try playing or even listening to.

After some practice we had some interaction session with each other. Moon says I have a lack of coordinaton which probably explains why I was the only person who had to do forfeits twice. :/

Oh well, after guitar I met Cheng Ying in the canteen and it was pretty cool. We did some violin/guitar jams which I thought sounded pretty okay.

We played stuff like Stand By Me, Fly Me To The Moon and just a range of pop songs or whatever could pop into my head at that point of time.

Classically trained people are a strange lot indeed.

They range from being really bad to being nothing short of impressive.

Like this guy from String Ensemble who is the concert master, his hearing was top notch.

While to be fair I played really standard chord progressions for him to improvise over, I was impressed when he started improvising over my basslines. :O

Kudos to you all! -applause-

TJ has so many talented musicians that I think it's just amazing. I'm looking forward to practicing with the string ensemble people on Monday and Tuesday.

I'm helping them out with their cover of Chrono Cross's main title Time's Scar. I'm providing the bass part, Jit Rui is handling percussion and violins and piano will do the rest.

I think it'll sound pretty rad. :D

Gee, and I can't wait to try collaborating with Ryan too. His taste in music is really good too. He introduced me to this hour long track full of grooves and beats that will get stuck in your head for days.

Well that pretty much wraps up today. I'm off to blog on my class's blog.

Take care!

Randomness

I realised this is a good way to blog when you're feeling lazy :/

1. Gig at Ngee Ann Poly was pretty good.

2. Crowd was boring, as usual. :/

3. I'M IN GUITAR CLUB! :D

4. Econs is like the best subject ever.

5. I think when you're in Singapore, the six degrees of separation hypothesis holds true. :/ Go figure. Heh.

Ah dammit. I shall head back to finishing up homework.

Blah.

DESTROY.ERASE.IMPROVE

I took off my old decals on my jacket and sewn on two of them.

One of them is a decal with Meshuggah on it and the other is Che Guevara in technicolour. Heh :P

Anyway I'm very pleased with it and I think it looks absolutely rad. :D

Oh well, I'm lazy to blog further.

CAN'T WAIT FOR MUSE LIVE AT FORT CANNING TMR! :D :D :D

I can't wait for the results for TalentQuest X too.

And today's encounter with Mr. Tong was somewhat strange yet amusing. Hah.

GAMMA HOT NOT?

SAY WE CAN DO WE CAN DO!
GAMMA'S GONNA WALLOP YOU!

Okay I'm not very sure about the rest of the cheer but the front part sounds pretty rad.HAH.

Anyway today was like jam session day. Haven't jammed in a long time so it's refreshing to get away from all the JC school life.

I jammed with FourEncounting in the morning to prep for the gig next saturday which is actually for Ngee Ann Poly's Open House. We're opening for some female singer from Singapore Idol?

Also Electrico are playing so I'm pretty excited because I always wanted to see them live. :D

We're only playing 3 songs but I think it's really solid sounding. They managed to get Reagan to join back the band so I'm glad everything is falling in place for those guys. They asked if I wanted to join them full-time but unfortunately I'm reluctant to make any promises.

Past experiences tells me that I suck at juggling multiple bands. :(

I'm sure when things become more routine and fixed I'll see to it again. :)

Afterwards I went for the TalentQuest X auditions with Diorama. IMO, not too confident of getting in because while we played fine, I'm guessing we lack that 'x-factor' that would make them want to include in the list of semi-finalists. :(

Oh well, I hope we can get in nonetheless though. The results will be out on Tuesday! Woo how exciting.

Anyway Dora the Explorer is sleeping like a pig on my bed. -.-

Pfft.

I can't wait for Muse's concert on Tuesday!

And not to mention TOWER OF POWER ARE COMING TO SINGAPORE.

ZOMG. I haven't got tickets but damn I think I should.

All right, that's all for now.

Take care all!

SAY TEE

I KNOW THIS POST IS TERRIBLY OVERDUE. :(

I would just like to say that I LOVE IT HERE IN TEMASEK JUNIOR COLLEGE!

TJC FTW :D :D :D

Anyway since Joanne asked me to blog about TJC, I shall!

Since so much has happened over the past 2 weeks, this is going to be a rather lengthy.

Anyway, I will start from the start of orientation week till today! :D I shall try to make it as detailed as possible.

The first day of Orientation was like erm, awkward for most people I guess. We sat down in our respective House/Clan areas and randomly mouthed cheers and swung our hands even though most of us didn't know what we were doing. Hah!

For those who wish to know, our theme for this year's orientation was B.O.N.D. '07. The initials of the pseudonyms (Blazon, Orexus, Nyrah, Doogashaka) of the houses (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta) spell the word BOND! Get it? :D

Blazon is some espionage agency, Orexus is some bunch of techies, Nyrah are a bunch of wizards, and Doogashaka...as their name implies, they are a group of tribal people.

We had to work together (Bond) to stop this fictional Dr. TNT (your generic evil villian) from destroying the TJ Island with his oh-so-creative-death-ray-from-a-satellite. -.-

I was in Blazon which was leading during the 2nd and 3rd day. Blazon has some pretty cool cheers but so do the other houses. OH SO SEXAAYYY! :P

Of course, the four clans stopped him in the end. Blazon didn't win the best clan though. :( Nyrah was the best clan for the orientation! Great job to you all :D

Anyway, KUDOS to the House Captains because you guys were awesome! :D

I think you inspired plenty to wish to take up the mantle of House Captain in the future.

Anyway, I'm lazy to go into details about what happen for each individual day. Let's just say it was great fun! :D :D :D

I love my OG too :)

OG 5 HURRAH!

Sadly we got split into our different CGs. AND I'M NO LONGER IN ALPHA/BLAZON!

I'm now a member of the Gamma house. -.- Which isn't so bad, now I can brag that we won Orientation '07. MUAHAHA.

Although I spend most of my time with the ex-TKsians (Joanne thinks I'm really funny :D), I've made plenty of new friends in TJC, some of which happen to be musicians too! And one of them sits in a chair with wheels :P Okay I shan't go into that before people start labelling me as insensitive. Roofles.

There's this guy from Temasek Secondary called Ryan who can beatbox pretty good. :O He was part of the pageant during the last night of Orientation and won the male category because I suppose the teachers were impressed by his beatboxing talent.

Haha I'm intending to collaborate with him for like bass/beatbox jams. :)

In addition, Jit Rui intends to form a band within TJC. So far we roped in a couple of people. One of which is this guy from ACSI called Leon who happens to know Elliot and has been playing the guitar for about 4 years? Rad.

Speaking of which, I'm joining Guitar Club in TJC!

We had our PDP exhibition just yesterday and it was pretty cool. I saw a lot of names of people who had applied for guitar.

Haha, Amelia (one of my OGLs) told me that the trend is that loads of people join guitar, and they subsequently drop out because they can't keep up. :(

Really sad IMO. But ah well. Fann actually joined soccer for girls! Apparently she made some deal with Shu Ning that they will both join soccer. I told Fann to get the number 10 shirt so she can be 'Fannaldinho'. Harhar.

I attended the Guitar Ensemble meetup on Friday and surprisingly the ratio of girls is to guys is like 5 is to 1.

Okay I'm not exaggerating, there really are a lot more females.

Anyway it's pretty cool so far, just that I can't sightread for nuts yet. AT LEAST I'M TRYING TO :(

During the meeting I also realised that you should never swear in front of Vanessa unless you intend to get pinched to death. -.-

Okay, no wonder she's the Vice President of Guitar Club AND in charge of discipline.

Fierceeee.

Ah okay, that's all for now.

JOANNE DON'T BE ANGRY :P

Take care all!
