DON'T FEEL LIKE DANCING DUDUDUDU
Scissors Sisters' "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" is stuck in my head.
FRIGGIN' CATCHY SONG MAN.
God I can't stop humming the chorus part.
Anyway today I was supposed to go to the movies with Chin Sheng and Bhavin. But since Bhavin didn't want to watch Death Note 2, Chin Sheng suggested we just cancel it and watch Blood Diamond when it opens next thursday.
So yeah, no movies. :(
BUT! I went to the Mind Cafe! :D :D :D
I FINALLY applied for membership. Cost me like $15 -.-
Apparently Mind Cafe doesn't have small change so they returned me $34 in SGD and $1 with Brunei currency. Hah.
Anyway, I came late so I didn't play much games.
We played two rounds of Betrayal and JENGA!
Hahaha, I finally got to play a traitor.
But darn, I lost because Jonathan's character's Might was way too high. Never got a chance to win. >.<
Ah well good try for a first time traitor I guess. Muahaha.
Anyway then we headed down to Bugis. I originally intended to buy a capo and some new guitar strings for my acoustic guitar.
But then I decided to just get it another day.
Only reason why I intend to get new strings is to practice fingerpicking on the acoustic.
And I've decided that if I'm going to join Guitar Ensemble for TJC next year, I'm not going to grow out my nails even if I don't get to play the guitarron or the bass.
I shall just get acrylic (fake) nails! :D
I got that from John Butler who uses acrylic nails for his hybrid picking too.
Anyway speaking about TJC, some bunch of orientation group leaders are supposed to call me to inform me about orientation.
Yet to receive any phone calls so I guess I shall wait till tomorrow.
Ah well, that's all for today.
CHEERS!
BOXING DAY!
GOOD AFTERNOON ONE AND ALL! :D
I'm back from a party at Tracy's place. THANKS FOR THE HOSPITALITY TRACY :)
Keith, Jia Heng, Ho Ming and Kester were there. And some random people who I think are Tracy's relatives.
Anyway, Wen Yu and Ming Jiang came too but they left earlier. Awww...
I brought Munchkin which was as Keith puts it, "The Highlight of the Day".
MUNCHKIN FRENZY!!!
Muahahha. The games were fun like hell. Plenty of backstabbing and surprises.
Ah well. Christmas doesn't seem all that perfect this time.
The Godfather of Soul has passed away.
I was very disappointed when I heard the news. He was such a great contributor to music. And one of my personal favourites too.
FUNK WILL NEVER DIE!
REST IN PEACE JAMES BROWN!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! :D
Today was great as usual. :D
I posted out my Christmas cards! Yay.
Thanks to Khia Peng and Marc for making Christmas Eve so much easier to pass by!
Well, so today was mostly shopping and just wandering around Parkway with Khia Peng. We walked around in the rain with my mighty umbrella!
Headed down to Hallmark and got a Christmas card. Then once again we braved the rainy weather and to the post office!
We spent a good 20 minutes there or so, with me telling Khia Peng stupid random jokes whilst writing down the addresses of the recipients as while as making out the wishes on the card. Heh.
Then Khia Peng and I ventured for some shopping to find a gift for her little 9 year old cousin. In the end we didn't find anything good so Khia Peng decided to just get him something when her family heads out to Genting tomorrow.
While shopping for the gift, we stumbled upon a certain Dora the Explorer toy that was very creepy to say the least.
It is by no means a toy suitable for children because that toy is way more freaky than Pennywise.
The toy swings its head left and right like it's friggin' possessed. :/
Let's just say it's like Chucky but in Dora the Explorer disguise.
So we had dinner at KFC at where I realised iced tea is delicious. :D
After dinner, we met up with Marc at the bus stop outside my house. Hiked back to my place where we watched "Wish Upon A Star" on Channel 5.
Hahaha, Khia Peng claims Jonathan Leong is UGLY. :D
TAKE THAT SOPHIA! MUAHAHA :P
And she says Jonathan Leong tries TOO HARD to be charming. :D :D :D
WE PLAYED JENGA! And 3 man titee? WTF HOW DO YOU SPELL IT? Goddammit.
Muahaha. I won a couple of times and I'm like so proud of my achievement. LOL!
I suck at card games whenever I'm playing at family/friends gatherings.
During Chinese New Year sometimes my luck is pretty good so I score when playing Blackjack.
But titee (sp?) requires a little bit of anticipation and skill besides plain dumb luck.
Haha and finally Marc suggested we have supper.
So we headed out to the food centre at the back (or is that side?) of my home to have some prata!
Yummyyyyyy.
Life without parents is such a joy.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!
Have a great holiday!
DON'T LOOK AT ME I'M UGLY IN THE MORNING!!!
Dolly the Sheep and my parents have flown off to Taiwan! Awwww.This is the first time in my entire 16 years of my life I'm not spending Christmas with my whole family around. But today, I spent quality time with Dora the Explorer!I RARELY go out with my siblings. The last time I went out with either one of my sisters was to get my new spectacles made. Only reason I would go out with them to get my spectacles is because my sisters have good fashion sense :DDora looks like the cartoon character in question that's for sure. Anybody who dares argue with me can go ahead and flip open my family's photo albums and take a look at Dora's photographs when she was a kid.:DWe did shopping at Bugis and Suntec. I bought my new Ibanez Series 96 cable and FINALLY...THE SANDMAN VOLUME 6 :DLet me just say that Ibanez Series 96 cables are a BITCH to open. :/Just plain frustrating. The wires are tied around the cable so tight I can't even get a clean cut across it. Grrrr. They better be worth my $24 and my time taken to open them. Pfft. And while I was near Kinokuniya, I stepped into Absolute Comics, and WOW!I found them selling Arkham Horror, Munckin, amongst other REALLY UBER COOL board games.I'm thinking of buying one of them because Munchkin and all these board games are FUN!It's wonderful because it's Christmas so I have a reason to spend! :P David says he wants to buy a set of Munchkin too.Dora the Explorer bought new shoes which she says is really comfortable.Haha, it was really funny. While we were walking through Suntec, some lady who was promoting her company came up to us and thought we were dating. -.-?DAMN IT I KNEW I DON'T RESEMBLE MY SISTERS ONE BIT. Bleah.I also checked out Popcorn Pop (not sure if that's its name) and I saw some pretty kickass trailers for future movies.300, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and friggin' GHOST RIDER man!Awesome stuff. And I still can't wait for Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3.2007 FTW!Then we had dinner at Cedele so I could visit FANN! :DHaha I think Fann cut her hair, but I forgot to ask her.Awww Fann was so sweet too. SHE GAVE ME FREE COOKIES! Muahaha.THANKS FANN!Darn, I missed visiting Zong Yao at his workplace in Plaza Singapura. He says he's working at Raffles Hotel now. Hah, shall go find him if I have the time.Yay, today was great.TOMORROW IS CHRISTMAS EVE! Gosh I realised time flies pretty quick.TIME TO SEND OUT THE CHRISTMAS CARDS SOON!CHEERS!
The (rather) Long Post
Okay so my previous posts have been boring to say the least.
Fine, let's make this one as lengthy as possible.
Well okay, I just spent the last hour or so heading down to Felicity's home to 'mail' her her birthday gift.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
And I really really hope you like the gift :D
I'm convinced I'm a total cockanaden. I wrote clearly in my notebook that Felicity lived in Lorong M. Yet, I walked around Lorong L instead. -.-?
Well the good thing is that there's a couple of people I know living in the area so I could ask for some directions. Since Zhang was away in the P.R.C, Winston and Michelle Aw were the only alternatives.
While Winston provided some (useful) information, it didn't really help a lot since I got the address totally wrong. Bleah.
Michelle Aw is so random la -.-
WHEN I FINALLY FIND FELICITY'S HOME...then Michelle calls.
-.-
Okay la, at least she called. THANKS! :D
So Miss Chow was apparently afraid I got her house wrong, so I had to provide like a 20 word description and send it to her in the form of an SMS. Of which she also asked what the colour her house was.
Darn, I'm still pissed I can't tell colours apart properly.
Damn you colour deficiency! >.<
Her house had some peach-coloured outlines on the roof/balcony/whatever-you-call-it. I played safe and just said "white".
Of course, I added in some other details just to be sure.
And finally! I got the right house. Heh.
1000 points to Team Bryan.
Lawlfunnehroflcopterdamnyoustupidmcforpromnitepfft.
So on my way back I saw the trailer for Blood Diamond starring Leonardo Dicaprio on TVMobile.
IMO, looks pretty good. I'll probably watch it if I have the time.
And since it is Christmas and I'm feeling particulary 'christmas-y', I shall post my wish list for the holidays!
1. Watch The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (and probably the whole of the so-called "The Dollars Trilogy" if I can get my hands on it) starring Clint Eastwood2. Watch Saving Private Ryan (okay fine I know it's an old film and I'm probably really out of touch to not have watched it. But Terry told me to watch Band Of Brothers over SVP back then! BAND OF BROTHERS FTW!)3. All the other "The Sandman" books that I don't already own4. Catch a couple of movies with friends before the JC PAE term starts (and also head down to the Mind Cafe with them some time soon)5. Jam more often with Diorama6. Lose weight, doh.7. SIN CITY BOOKS!Well, option 8 is open for now.I shall keep updating it as more stuff comes along. Heh.Seems like the music section for my wishlist is rather empty.Haha, I got Saosin, Circa Survive, Faith No More, and Fantomas albums recently.Yeah, I got MORE FNM albums because FNM is JUST AWESOME :DFantomas is great too, although I've only finished listening to their self-titled album.Haha, and I have to agree, Patton's vocal ability (or rather versatility) is just second to none.He still passes off to me as some sort of crazed genius though. As much as he makes fantastic music, he really DOES enjoy pissing people off just for the sake of it.Combined with his crazy antics on stage (not crazy, more like way way beyond comprehensible), you probably either really hate him or really adore him.He makes some of the most random quotes too."I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Slayer."HAHAHA!Saosin's new stuff isn't too bad I guess. They were way way WAAAY more hardcore with their previous members around. (Translating the Name EP era)But they still make reasonable music now with their new lineup. So I'm not really complaining.Circa Survive is pretty cool. I've yet to finish listening to the entire album, but I like what I hear so far.Ah okay, post ends here! I shall blog another time then.CHEERS!
WE CARE A LOT!
Well, so I headed to the gym yesterday. Funny thing was that I entered the gym at say 4.15pm?
And Felicity tells me she was actually there before me from like 2 to 4. HAHA.
I found it amusing because we were exactly 2 hours away from each other.
And then I went to Parkway and got Christmas cards! Muahaha. I spent quite a lot on the cards alone. But I'd say they are definitely worth every cent.
I've been thinking of getting a Zippo Lighter because after watching Sin City I think Zippos are beyond cool.
And not to mention they are highly collectible too.
Oh yeah, Sin City is like THE BEST movie I've watched in a while.
Haha okay fine, I know I said The Usual Suspects was amazing.
But Sin City is just too badass for words. I love the whole film noir thing. Damn I couldn't believe I've been missing out on so much.
And I also got Faith No More's Who Cares A Lot? - Greatest Hits compilation album.
Great stuff, I'm trying to get my hands on the other Faith No More albums.
Okay I admit, I know what you are thinking.
"Damn, this post is so lacking in enthusiasm."
"Come on Bryan, make the next post more interesting."
TILL THEN!
Cheers. :D
Roomful Of Blues
Just had a sort of mini-gig at Roomful Of Blues.
Although we screwed up the guitar solo for My Sharona, and me forgetting my parts for Plush, I guess everything else was fine.
I felt kinda guilty for screwing up those parts.
I mean, I'm somewhat a perfectionist so I guess that was unacceptable.
Big sorry to Emma, Calvin and Hafiz. :(
We played Creep and Venus too.
I liked the crowd's response, even though most of them were much, MUCH, older than me. Haha.
Still, it was pleasing to know that they liked our playing.
And before the mini-gig of sorts, I watched TK Band in concert for the year 2006!
This year was a lot more professional.
I mean like, ten times way more professional than last year. Kudos to the great performance by TK Band. Minor glitches though, but other than that, fantastic work. (:
And I'm going for another school band concert tomorrow!
This time is Temasek Junior College's.
Oh yeah, I got posted there for the PAE! :D
A couple of people (Roshni, Darwin, Leong Hock, Jareth etc) got posted there too, so it's all cool. Even Fann got posted to TJC too! Haha I was so glad to hear that.
Gee, I'm too tired to blog somemore.
And my shirt smells of nicotine. Pfft.
Sexyphone.
HAHA :P
Flags Of Our Fathers...
...was a pretty good movie IMO.
It's got the distinct Clint Eastwood style on it (e.g. Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby etc).
I liked it a lot actually.
Yet, I left the cinema realising that perhaps I belonged to a small minority of the audience who actually enjoyed the film.
While I suppose it is subjective, I have the impression that the majority of the audience in the theatre that day were too shallow to comprehend the sort of ideas that Flags Of Our Fathers wishes to put forth.
Which is really sad.
The row of people in front of me had this bunch of teenagers who were complaining the film was boring.
Well what were they expecting? Another Saving Private Ryan?
And while I was leaving the theatre, some bunch of people behind me were saying:
"I don't careeee where's Iggy!"
For your info, Iggy is actually Ralph "Iggy" Ignatowski, one of the characters portrayed in the film.
I'm not going to spoil it for you, so just watch and find out.
Anyway, it's horrible how stupid Singaporeans are these days.
I'm not trying to be an elitist or anything. Not like I attended school at Stanford or Cambridge or Harvard.
I'm sure as I speak, someone is out there blogging about how god awful boring Flags Of Our Fathers is.
Pfft.
Well last night I spent about 2 hours or so with Calvin and Emma at the Roomful Of Blues.
And my shirt smells of nicotine now. Doh.
But I love the atmosphere of the pub. It has this really erm, 'family gathering' sort of feeling to it.
Everybody knows one another and stuff. Really cool.
I met this Filipino guy in the pub who was playing 70s acoustic folk songs.
And afterwards he jammed the blues with these two other men.
It was really good actually. I wished I could stay longer to jam with him too.
But darn, my mum was nagging and stuff.
Haha, and the Filipino guy (his name is Gilbert B.) was saying how we should drink more. (Alcohol of course, duh.)
Supposedly drink more, and the songs sound better.
Haha, damn, too bad I didn't drink though.
I was afraid my mum would suspect I was out drinking and smoking.
-.-
Well anyway, I can't wait for next week! Well sort of. Heh.
The results for OverDrive 2006 will be released tomorrow.
I'm going to jam with David and co. (FourEncouting) on Tuesday.
The results of the PAE will be posted on Thursday.
Then there's the TK Band's concert on Friday.
Well at least there's something to look forward to next week. Hah.
And then, he's gone
Well today was rather boring I guess.
I hurried down to Bedok Interchange today to hand Imee her piano scores.
I still can't sightread for nuts but ah, I'll get started. Heh.
Headed down to Parkway to get The Sandman Volume 6. Pfft, so bloody disappointed they didn't have it.
But I got myself the DVD version of Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory :D
It's really fun so far, but I play like a wuss. HAHAH. I'm always creeping up on guards and taking like forever to sneak up on them. LOL.
Oh and did I mention I got it for only $24? Kinda amazes me how fast the price of the game dropped.
I just rewatched The Usual Suspects!
Oh I can't resist watching a good movie.
The Usual Suspects, while confusing as it is, thrilled me from start to finish the first time I watched it.
Watching it the second time really allowed me to grasp the entire storyline and plot twists.
And of course, drum roll please!
My favourite scene from the movie. Muahaha.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj5vERbLtYI
[Suspects in a lineup are asked to read a phrase]
Cop: Number 1, step forward.
Hockney: Hand me the keys, you fucking cocksucker.
Cop: Number 2, step forward.
McManus: Give me the fucking keys, you fucking cocksucking motherfucker, aaarrrghh.
Cop: Knock it off. Get back. Number 3, step forward.
Fenster: [laughing] Hand me the keys, you cocksucker.
Cop: In English, please?
Fenster: Excuse me?
Cop: In English.
Fenster: Hand me the fucking keys, you cocksucker, what the fuck?
Hahaahaha. Comedy gold in its own way.
And I read that entire scene was improvised, how cool is that?
Ah well, I'm having supper now. Holy crap I'm going to put on weight again. Dammit.
And the auditions for OverDrive 2006 is tomorrow! Gosh, it's so last minute. I hope the rest of the band is well prepared. We're doing Led Zep's Rock and Roll and RHCP's Hump de Bump.
I'm quite excited really. Wooo.
And with that, I shall leave you with the coolest quote from a movie I've heard in a long while.
"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled off, was convincing the world he didn't exist".
The Usual Suspects
This morning I thought I head down to the gym.
Unfortunately, laziness got the better out of me. Meh.
Oh well, I shall head down tomorrow morning then. Besides, today is a Sunday, so I was under the impression there would be a lot of people (although past experiences tells me this is not necessarily true).
Anyway, so instead of working out today, Chin Sheng dropped by my place and we exchanged CDs.
Fucking awesome I tell you. I traded Lunarin, Incubus, and Concave Scream's albums for Leslie Low's solo debut album, Astreal's Fragments Of The Same Dead Star, and a couple of movies too.
One of which is The Usual Suspects, a movie which I have really been wanting to watch for a while already.
It has an extremely complicated plot, confusing even, but nonetheless a great crime-drama film.
He also got me Inside Man and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Good stuff, and it's quite disappointing they don't make such good crime/thriller/drama flicks anymore.
I also bought The Producers yesterday after the Bukit Panjang Plaza gig/CDC Hip Hop Fest. The Producers is pretty funny too. Enjoyable film overall I guess, but not one of my favourites still.
Ah yes, the Bukit Panjang Plaza gig was pretty good. Other than the god awful boring crowd, and minor hiccups in our setlist, overall I say the band covered every song near perfectly.
And Calvin and I learned that next time if we're playing and we aren't miked up, he said we should put our amps side by side.
Apparently because some feedback was that the bass and guitars sounded split up (ie sounded like stereo, bass in left ear, guitars in right ear, lol).
Ah, seems like you can learn a lot from playing gigs.
I'm kinda looking forward to OverDrive 2006, not sure how that one will turn out.
Ah well, I shall return to watching movies.
Cheers!
