Check the heads bow in Vietnow

Hah! I suppose this post is late by a couple of days.

Ah well, I've been resting for the past few days. The last week has really put a strain on me.

Rehearsal sessions lasted till really late. Like 10.30pm? We had to fix the sound because it was giving us a little problems at first since nobody in the band really knows how to work a DI box. Hahaha.

I think when you're playing music it's kinda important to know how to tweak and set up your own live rig.

Well, you just have to KNOW how to work it, you don't really have to DO it.

Yes, that's what your tech is for. Lol.

Anyway the gig on Friday was pretty good. (In case you're wondering, the event was called Staffroom R(A) which was organsied by MGS ROCs and held at the MGS auditorium.) I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed themselves. (:

The MGS teachers are really nice though. The MGS people gave the band cushions as a gift. Haha. I thought it was pretty cute. They even offered to tutor me. Hah.

Mine was yellow, cause Hafiz took my red one. Lol. Emma one was also yellow i think. Calvin's one is green?

No idea.

Haha. Well, music aside, I ought to start revision for the 'O's.

Damn, in taking time to rest for the past few days, I feel like I wasted my time instead of putting it to good use.

Well at least I've studied something on Physics practical today.

Ah well, study study.

Oh yeah, they moderated our prelims grades. Muahaha.

I jumped 4 points.

9. :D

My sister and mum want me to apply for Temasek now for the first three months. Ah well, it's after the 'O's anyway, I'll have to reconsider then.

It's amazing how quick this year has passed. No shit, feels like yesterday when I just got to know everybody in 3A/4A.

And in a blink of an eye, here we are now - weeks away till the end of the 'O' Levels.

I'm still thinking of what to do with all the time I have afterwards. I mean, it's just amazing, really.

It's kinda like playing a video game, and you're so super engrossed in completing it.

And when you have completed the final level, what do you do afterwards?

Okay poor analogy, but you get the idea. You pretty much realise you have nothing to do then.

I think it's really worth to just go all out for it from here on.

Get the As for the 'O's man, I just can't stress how much there is to GAIN. Not to lose, but to gain.

It's a pretty facile task. Just work for your damn 'O's from now and stop playing video games or talking to your girlfriend.

I'm sure we can all do well. (:

All right, I'm off to watch the rest of the Manchester United-Liverpool match.

And then afterwards I shall study Geography Elective.

Take care everybody!

Whiny, whiny

I don't particularly like to complain about things in life.

Sometimes we learn to adapt and move on, and at times you feel the need to let it all out.

I suppose we've all done so before.

But when you're Singaporean you have a lot of things to complain about.

The cab fares, the rudeness of commuters on public transport.

And of course, the education system!

DISCLAIMER: The following blogpost has been constantly ranted about by my fellow countrymen.

Anyway, apparently today my dad verbally abused my mum once more.

Not like it's so fascinating or interesting since he does it all the time. Supposedly the reason is because he found out that ACJC is really far. And that the only reason I'm probably going there is because I'm too 'incompetent' to go to say...Victoria?

Ah right, and I suppose if I can go Raffles then travelling shouldn't be an issue, eh?

I think that's a really good point Mr. Chan put forth the other time. Should distance really be a factor?

I mean, say you live in Pasir Ris, and you're offered a slot in Raffles JC. Are you telling me you're going to reject it just because:

"Eh Raffles, cb far sial."

...And go meridian instead? I mean, that doesn't quite make sense does it?

Maybe it does to some. Joel said that you'll waste a lot of time travelling and you'll feel tired at the end of the day.

I'm not too sure about that. Unless you're telling me one can experience jet-lag just travelling from Jurong to Pasir Ris?

Furthermore, the amount of emphasis Singaporeans have on education is ridiculously huge anyway. Any Singaporean student who is smart enough or kiasu enough would probably figure out that studying in Raffles JC more or less ensures that you'll proceed on to more opportunities in life.

In other words, it should probably ensure you a place in a university of your choice.

I might be stereotyping a lot, but it is true isn't it? Your education route in Singapore is predetermined from the start of Secondary 1.

Or PSLE rather.

I doubt I can find 1000 students who managed to go ITE, jump to Poly, and somehow get into NUS.

If so, I suppose the New Paper or the Straits Times would have repeated articles about how Tom, Dick or Harry had to look after their disabled sibling whilst working in the army and having to study for his examinations all at the same time.

Either that or the editors at the papers say,

"We had this one last year, find me something new!"

"We have better news to report about. North Korea has gone nuclear! -gasp-"

Ah whatever the case, the point is that I personally feel that such cases are rare. Unless someone can point me to a different direction that is.

Let's face it: ITE just plays on that 1 or 2 success stories to boost its image.

I'll be honest, I'm patriotic. I love Singapore, really. I could die for the nation.

But the education system just pisses me off.

I'm fine with the cab fares and the senior citizen or auntie bulldozing his/her way into a SBS bus through hordes of people.

But the education system? Hell no.

It seriously needs some tinkering. I'm not particularly sure if this education system is going to work all the way til the future.

Let's face it, everything is prone to changes. Change is good. For better or for worse.

Goodnight everybody. Let us wake up to a better tomorrow. (:

PSI 150

Well it's reported the haze got real bad yesterday. PSI hit 150.

Looks better now though around my neighbourhood though. I ought to check up with the news for updates.

Anyway, I'll admit, prior to the big hoo-haa that we're all going to die because the PSI hit 150, I didn't know PSI stood for:

Pollutant Standards Index.

I mean, let's admit it, PSI stands for a lot of things.

I was thinking they were talking about the Pound-force per Square Inch. After which I realised it was totally ridiculous to use that PSI unit to talk about the WEATHER.

Damn do I feel stupid.

Ah I'm off to study Chemistry.

Indonesia is invading Singapore

Good morning world!

It's true, Indonesia is secretly invading Singapore.

Everybody knows it, but nobody dares to admit it.

Lucky Plaza is their headquarters. It's no surprise there are so many Indon food stalls there.

THEY ARE FEEDING AN ARMY.

And Indon girls are just secretly sent to breed with Singaporean males to begin the eventual domination of Indonesia in Singapore.

Crap, we're all done for.

And the haze? Well yeah, it's part of the plan to wipe us out as well.

I'm sitting at the computer now, feeling bored, making poor use of my time, and to top it all off, getting fat.

Ah dammit. I feel like Garfield.

I woke up really early today. Only because I slept early.

Apparently Felicity messaged me at around 11? Unfortunately I was sleeping already. SO SORRY!

I feel so silly. The other day I messaged her, but I couldn't reply because I fell asleep.

Hmmm, makes me wonder if sleeping early is actually good or bad.

I still feel sufficient rest pwns all. Nothing is worse than waking up feeling tired and then the rest of the day just sucks.

Well, this morning hasn't been so wasted. I've learned the entire bass parts for Hump de Bump.

In case you're wondering why, well, we playing that song for the gig at MGS on the 20th.

The other song we're playing is "Boyfriend" by Ashlee Simpson. Man, the guitar riff for that song is so cute. Haha.

Emma just emailed me the info for the gig today. It's pretty cool, we're providing backing for the teachers from MGS as part of some Singapore Idol spoof. Haha, it's really cool.

We're doing a large range of backings. The backings are only for like a minute or so. Probably include only a verse and a chorus.

Anyway, the backings begin from like, hokkien/canto-pop to 80's pop to funk to current bands such as Snow Patrol. There's also some random tunes thrown in for good measure, like "Camptown Races".

Damn, this sounds so exciting. I can't wait to hit the studio for jamming.

Oh wait, 'O' Level Biology Practical on the 17th.

Zzzz...

It's been so long...

Since I last blogged.

I'M BACK!

Muahaha.

I know I haven't blogged in a while, the exams are just over recently. Truncated timetable started this week. Honestly it feels like truncated timetable is pretty useful. The school makes you study because THEY know you won't. (:

Anyway, I've got back my prelims results already.

They aren't fantastic, but reasonable to say the least. I expected 11 actually, and if it wasn't for A Maths, I would have got it.

Well I got 13 for my L1R5 anyway. A Maths was the biggest disappointment: B3. -.- It should have been an A1 in any case. Oh well. Damn those careless mistakes, it's a disease I tell you.

Anyway, I got B3 for English, B3 for Combined Humanities, A2 for E Maths and A1s for Chemistry and Physics.

Haha, Biology was the only C6.

And I actually got a D7 for Chinese without even trying. YAY!

So overall I guess I did okay.

Hmmm, I'm still figuring what JC to apply to for the first three months thing.

I have my mind made up on ACJC at the moment. Hmmm, not sure if I can make it into the school anyway.

Ah bleah, there's so much to blog about.

First of all, the MGS gig on the 20th of October is confirmed. Woopie! I can't wait. We hardly jammed together as a band but I suppose we'll be able to put something up. Emma and Calvin went down to MGS today to confirm the song and all.

Imagine the crowds of schoolgirls. :X

Haha I sound so perv. :P

Anyway lately I think i'm gaining weight. Only because I've been sitting around playing Command And Conquer Generals and Zero Hour. DAMMIT. Video gaming makes you fat.

Zero Hour is great fun though. Matthew thinks his China Tank General with Emperor Overlords is REALLY powerful.

Aiya whatever la. lol.

Tomahawks with Search and Destroy Plan still pwn anything from long range.

lol I sound so damn geeky with all this video game talk.

It's funny, really.

ZOMFG.

ZERGRUSHZERGRUSHZERGRUSH!!!

Ah okay. This post feels kinda short.

I'll promise to update more tomorrow. I need to rest.

Goodnight world.
